At First Tee — Upstate South Carolina, we don’t just say golf is for everyone—we prove it.
Through our partnership with Els for Autism, we’ve built programming that makes inclusion real, not just aspirational.
What Inclusion Looks Like Here:
We run specialized inclusion clinics designed specifically for students with autism—low-stress environments where trained coaches use adaptive instruction tailored to each student’s needs.
At the BMW Charity Pro Am presented by TD SYNNEX Els for Autism clinic, students don’t just watch from the sidelines. They practice at Thornblade Country Club. They hit balls alongside Korn Ferry Tour players. They experience firsthand what it means to be welcomed, celebrated, and included at the highest levels of the game.
This is what your support creates: trained coaches who understand autism, specialized programming that removes barriers, and a community where students of all abilities don’t just participate—they thrive.
Inclusion isn’t a checkbox for us. It’s the heart of everything we do.
Celebrating Success: Spencer’s Journey

As a participant in our Els for Autism program, Spencer Lengel demonstrated the dedication, character, and growth that define what First Tee is all about. His coaches saw it. His peers saw it. And First Tee nationally saw it too.
This year, Spencer was selected for two national First Tee summits—the PGA TOUR Superstore Leadership Summit in Montana and the First Tee Game Changers Academy in Minnesota. These aren’t participation awards. These are highly competitive selections reserved for students who demonstrate exceptional character, leadership, and dedication.
And here’s what makes it even more remarkable: Spencer flew to both summits alone—his first time on a plane by himself. The same student who found structure and support in our Els for Autism program was now confidently navigating airports, representing our chapter, and building relationships with peers from across the country.
This is what happens when inclusion isn’t just a buzzword. When we create environments where every student has access to expert coaching, supportive community, and genuine belief in their potential—students like Spencer don’t just participate. They lead.
