On Saturday, October 5th we had seven teams of two donors and one The First Tee of the Upstate Participant compete in our 5th Annual Core Values Cup at TopGolf - Greenville. The winning team of golf course owner and former PGA Tour Player, Tommy Biershenk; Youth On Course National Board Member, Jeff Rhodenbaugh and our first Back to Back Champion, Birdie Participant, Becca Whitaker. They played great together and had a great time narrowly beating the Pius the Pro Team of Executive Director of The First Tee of the Upstate, Michael Pius; Young Professional Council Member, John Thomas and Eagle Participant, Westin Walmsley. Just behind them in Third Place was the team that brought in the most money, raising $2,425, Sarah Robertson's Team of Sarah, The First Tee of the Upstate Alum and Coach, Laura Maurer and Birdie Participant Zuri Ruiz!1st Place - Tommy Biershenk's Team with Becca Whitaker - 242 Points 2nd Place - Pius the Pro's Team with Westin Walmsley - 239 Points 3rd Place - Sarah Robertson's Team with Zuri Ruiz - 238 Points
Overview
The Core Values Cup is a unique event for our donors and participants of The First Tee of the Upstate. The teams are made up of two donors and one The First Tee of the Upstate participant. Historically we have hosted this event in December and it was a nine-hole scramble at a local country club. In 2019 we are moving the event to October and to a new venue, TopGolf! There is no entry fee to participate. We just ask that our donors contact 10 friends or family members and ask for a $100 donation to The First Tee of the Upstate. Also, this year we are asking our participants also ask 15 friends and family members for a $10 donation. Our total goal is to raise over $30,000 for the mission of The First Tee of the Upstate.
