Overview
On Thursday, October 21st, teams made up of three donors and one First Tee Participant will compete for the coveted Core Values Cup! Each donor is asked to raise at least $500 by asking ten friends, colleagues and/or family members for $50 each! Also, each First Tee Participant is asked to try to raise $100 before the event.

On Thursday, October, 21st, we had ten teams made up of three donors and one First Tee participant compete for The Core Values Cup! Each donor was asked to raise at least $500 by asking ten friends, colleagues and/or family members for $50 each! Also, again this year we asked our First Tee participants to try to raise $100 before the event.

Participant: First Tee — Upstate South Carolina Eagle Participant, Tyre Sullivan raised $3,751!
Congratulations to the winners of The 7th Annual Core Values Cup from left to right; Tommy Biershenk, Matt Sharkey, First Tee — Upstate South Carolina Eagle Level Participant Tyre Sullivan, Bern and Frank Dupree! The team raised $10,066 for a total of 24 points in the fundraising portion of the event and carded another 78 points on the golf course to win by four points!
The competition’s format is a stableford format, meaning that each player plays their own ball and designated a point value for their score on that hole:
- Bogey = 1 point
- Par = 2 points
- Birdie = 4 points
- Hole-in-one = 8 points
Remember, this event is not only about the golf but also a fundraiser! Meaning a point value is given to each player based on how much money they raise and that is added to the final score:
- Donor raises at least $400 = 1 point / Participant raises $80 = 1 point
- At least $500 = 2 points / Participant $100 = 2 points
- At least $1,000 = 4 points / Participant $150 = 4 points
- At least $2,000 = 8 points / Participant $200 = 8 points
The Core Values Cup is a unique event for our donors and participants of First Tee — Upstate South Carolina. This gives our participants the opportunity to use the interpersonal skills that they learn during their classes. It also gives our donors an opportunity to see the mission of First Tee in action firsthand!
Our total goal is to raise over $22,500 for the mission of the First Tee – Upstate South Carolina in 2021.
